Digging Deeper by PJ Skinner

Sam strives for acceptance at a diamond mine but the rebels have other ideas

It’s 1998 and geologist Sam Harris is so desperate for money, she takes a job in a tinpot mining company working in war-torn Tamazia. The rebel ceasefire is holding, but only just, and she is horrified to be shipped out from the capital to a remote camp.

Working in Gemsite was never going to be easy with its culture of misogyny and corruption, but the project is full of landmines, both real and metaphorical. Her boss, the notorious Adrian Black, is engaged in a game of cat and mouse with the government over taxation, and her colleagues are trying to force her out.

After Sam makes a breakthrough at work, she hopes to finally get accepted by her peers. But when the situation takes a sudden turn for the worse, her lack of allies puts her in mortal danger.

Can she survive the consequences, or will she succumb to her fate?

Digging Deeper is the sixth book in the riveting Sam Harris Adventure series. If you like Indiana Jones, you’ll love this exciting adventure with realistic storylines, set in an exotic location before modern technology.

Review

Explosive, thrilling and so damn good!!

Sam is back and this time she is in more danger than ever before!

This time Sam is strapped for cash, so she takes a job in Tamazia, a war-torn part of the world where she is thrown head-first into corruption and trouble, the management wants her out and she hasn’t any friends or people she can trust base. As soon as she makes a breakthrough with the job she is soon kidnapped by gun-toating rebels. Eeek! Me thinks, our girl is in over her head here, she is in mortal danger with no one who even cares whether she returns or not.

Once again Sam Harris is fighting for equality and acceptance in a man’s world, she has grown and matured so much over the course of the series, and over the years that the series covers. But has she learnt from her past misadventures? Not on your nelly, she is just as courageous, defiant, determined and always ready to do what is needed and what is right, which as you will see from this book does lead her to greater peril.

Digging Deeper is book six in this fantastically exciting series, as ever I would recommend that you read the previous books as each one gives an insight into Sam and how far she has come along on this roller-coaster journey.

This is a fantastic addition to the series, Sam is a cut above the rest of other heroines, she can easily stand on her own two feet and as ever she is unyielding determination to fit in a man’s world, to prove that just because she is a woman she can do the job just as good (or even better ) than her male counterparts and she isn’t afraid to stand up for what is right – even if it does lead her into danger.

Digging Deeper is an excellent edge-of-your-seat adventure, with a heroine you can really get behind, a twisty complex plot richly descriptive scenes it’s all here to keep your attention and to keep turning the pages.
