Well, what can I say?
I loved it, absolutely head over heels in love with it!!
Jeanine Englert is fast becoming one of my go-to authors in historical romance, I love her flair with words and her dramatic and sensual writing which keeps the reader hooked.
I am a big fan of a second chance romance, it is definitely my second favourite trope (nothing beats a good old enemies-to-lovers for me though) and this one is an absolute pearler, it’s utterly charming and oh-so-romantic and yet there is an edginess to it that I thought thrilling.
The opening was dramatic, it’s a thrilling and tense opening which guarantees that you will keep turning the pages, ‘s you could ever wish for this has it all. The characters are realistic and very likeable, even the villain had me begging for more – even though they did get what they deserve in the end, it’s satisfying and fits perfectly with the story. Brenna and Garrik are star-crossed lovers, they loved and lost each other so long ago and now they are back together but as with all second-chance romances, these two lovely and compelling characters have a few roadblocks put in their way before they read the pinnacle.
This is an immensely enjoyable book, with adventure, lots of emotion and plenty of romance, plus one of the best settings you could ever imagine, can you get any more romantic setting than that of the glorious Scottish Highlands, honestly it’s like a character in its own regard. I loved the author’s descriptions of the area and the scenery, and her exquisite attention to detail which brings the entire story to life.
This is a gorgeous romance, a beautiful, heartwarming and enchanting story of finding love again, the characters are beautifully developed and full-bodied, I loved every moment of this and I am very excited to read more!
