I am absolutely delighted to be today’s stop on the blog tour for; Strictly Christmas Spirit by Helen Buckley. I am super excited to shine a spotlight on this book plus to welcome Helen to the blog for an exclusive author interview. Firstly, thank you to Rachel at Rachels Random Resources for the invite.

About the Book

Strictly Christmas Spirit by Helen Buckley.

Genre: Women’s Fiction, Romance

From disco balls to Christmas baubles …
Ex-dancer Emily Williams turned her back on the sparkle of popular dancing show Strictly Dancing with Celebs to help those in need. Now the only dancing she does is teaching lonely pensioners to waltz, and the closest she gets to disco balls is making baubles with the homeless people in her Christmas crafts class.
She’s certainly not star-struck when Hollywood heart-throb Blake Harris is sent to her at short notice for community service, and has no desire to babysit the arrogant actor with his bad boy antics and selfish ways. Christmas might be a time for miracles, but Blake seems to be a lost cause.
But Emily’s reasons for abandoning her dancing passion means she understands the Hollywood wild child more than she’d like to admit. Could their time together, coupled with a dash of Christmas spirit, lead to a miracle change of heart for them both?
Book 3 in Helen’s Spotlight series but they can all be read as standalone stories.

Author Interview

Hi, Welcome to Chicks, Rogues and Scandals! Thank you for taking the time to chat with me today.

Firstly, what five words would you use to describe yourself?

  • Friendly
  • Driven
  • Chatty
  • Funny
  • Expressive

Can you tell us a little about your latest/up and coming release?

Strictly Christmas Spirit is a heart-warming, festive romance about a bad boy Hollywood superstar sent to do community service at a homeless shelter. Blake immediately clashes with community centre manager Emily, who is a former dancer from TV show Strictly Dancing with Celebs. Blake doesn’t care about the centre, or Christmas for that matter, he just wants to get his community service over and done with.

Will the people he meets at the centre, and Emily herself, change his heart?

Strictly Christmas Spirit is book three in the Spotlight Series but can be read as a standalone story.

When not writing, what do you like to do to relax?

I genuinely have no time to relax as I have two small boys who are very demanding! If I’m lucky I might get an hour in the evenings and then my husband and I love watching Netflix shows or films together. I also try to read whenever I get time.

If you could have a holiday home anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Probably France – for the cheese and wine!

If you could have one of your books made into a film, which book would it be and who would play your lead character’s?

I would love to have Celebrity SOS made into a film as it would be so exciting to see it on location in Alaska! I would have someone like Sam Claflin play Finn and Felicity Jones for Katerina – they are both a bit older than the actual characters but I think they are wonderful on screen.

When writing, do you plot or do you go with the flow?

I tend to plot so I have a rough idea of the story but when I’m actually writing I allow the story to go where it needs to. Often it ends up totally different to the plan I’ve made!

What three tips would you pass on to an aspiring author?

  1. Try to think of how your book might fit into a series – it’ll make it much easier to pitch to an agent or publishers
  2. Write something, anything, and don’t be constrained by perfectionism. You can always edit it later!
  3. Don’t be scared to try try and try again – and have fun doing it.

If you were hosting a dinner party what three people would you invite?

I would invite my husband, his brother and my sister-in-law, as I know we’d have a laugh and drink plenty of wine!

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to chat with me today, I have just one more cheeky question, just for fun; What is your favourite snacking food?

Crisps! I’m a crisp addict!

Thank you, Frankie x
