Gaelen Foley : Her Every Pleasure (The Spice Trilogy #3)
Back Blurb :
Princess Sophia was only a child when Napoleon conquered the island paradise ruled by her father. Raised in England and now twenty-one, she mean’s to claim the throne that is rightfully her’s and bring peace to her war torn land.
But an ambush by enemies forces Sophia into hiding. Disguising herself as a peasant girl until she can safely return, she meet’s Major Gabriel Knight, a wounded warrior whose brush with death has utterly changed him.
Heir to a great fortune, and a master swordsman, Gabriel has given up his worldly possession’s and laid down his arm’s. Sophia is fascinated by his brooding magnetism, and Gabriel, lured by her fiery beauty and healed by her touch, is drawn back inexorably toward the world of the living.
But when Sophia’s royal destiny is revealed, Gabriel know’s he must take up his sword again, whatever the cost, to protect his princess. . .
My View :
I may sound very Repetitive, but i don’t care I am going to say it again; I absolutely adore this Series and this one in particular is hand’s down my favorite. I do have a certain love for more fragile and scarred character’s and Gabriel Knight is that in spade’s and in her own way so is Sophia, I just love it.
There is just something really special about Gabriel he is this great warrior, a wonderful man who’s entire life revolved around fighting for what he believed in, fighting to protect his men, his family and sometime’s him self. But he is also a severely scarred hero, when he pushed his brother Derek out of the way and took a arrow in the chest for him it changed him, it changed his mentality and how he look’s at thing’s, in some way’s since he was wounded Gabriel is like a child seeing everything new. At the same time he is one hell of a lover, once he set’s his mind on the fact that he love’s Sophia nothing will get in his way, he will move heaven and hell for her and it is spine tingling just how fierce he can be when something get’s in his way.
Gabriel stood with one foot braced on the bow with the sea foam flying around him and a spyglass to his eye, angrily searching the rolling waves. The long end’s of his black wool greatcoat billowed in the cold wind as he held onto the rail balance himself.
Somewhere out there, she was waiting for him.
He could feel her. But his thought’s focused darkly on her captors.
If you harm one hair on her head. . .
The relationship’s in this is as ever so beautifully written and so very real and engaging, the way Gabriel and Sophia are when they are together it is simply magical, the sexual tension between the two practically leap’s of the page and you are willing them to finally get on with it. But obviously there is so many obstacle in their way, the fact that she is Queen of Kavros and he is just her body guard weigh’s so very heavily on both of them, but once they do decide to throw caution to the wind and get together is it well worth it.
She touched his hair, his shoulders, his arms. She lifted his hand to her lip’s and kissed it lovingly, then she looked into his blue, blue eye’s with the threat of tear’s in her own. She willed them back and cupped his hard, beautiful face for a moment.
“I will always love you,” she whispered calmly. “Always. And if there is a child, I will tell him everything about you.”
“Princess.” He crushed her and claimed her mouth, his kiss seared her very soul with his fiery passion. When he ended it, he lowered himself slowly to his knees and kissed her belly for a long moment with his eye’s closed.
Sophia caressed his raven hair.
He rose again and took her gently in his arms, grazing his lips along her forehead, with a low burning vow.
“I will come back to you.”
It is very saddening really that this is the very last time that we will ever get to see what the brilliant Knight’s are doing, but this is one hell of a way to finish a brilliant series. We may be saying farewell to such a well loved and brilliant family, but we will still have them with us. That is the absolute brilliance of this Series and the previous one ~ The Knight Miscellany ~ we have fallen in love with the entire family but we can always go back again and again and every time you re-read on it is just as brilliant as when you first read it.
The entire Knight’s were a stroke of genius from Gaelen Foley, which just goes to show just why she is the best Historical Romance writer around, she so easily create’s character’s that stay’s with you for a Lifetime.
Absolutely magical on every level.
